Information on the planned change in the .pl domain name registration process

It is to be informed that NASK is implementing a change in the registration process, consisting in eliminating a 14-day reservation period of a .pl domain name (RESERVED state).

On 8 January 2020 all .pl domain name registrars will cease to offer the facility of reserving domain names before being registered. Since that moment reservations will be performed only by NASK and provided to registrars for registrations for their customers in the following cases:

  1. Provision of a domain name for registration for an option holder;
  2. Provision of a domain name for registration after a legally valid court decision.

The aim of introducing the above change is to simplify the process of .pl domain names registration, bringing it closer to the model known from other top-level domain registries. The modification is also the Registry's response to the expectations of current and future registrants of .pl domain names.

In respect to .pl domain name reservations performed before 8 January 2020, the registration will be effected in accordance with the domain name lifecycle binding before that date.

With skipping the reservation in the domain name registration process, NASK will eliminate also the state BOOK_BLOCKED, occurring after reservation release. The last domain names will be released form that state on 7 February 2020.

Upon implementation of the change in the .pl domain name registration process, a new domain name lifecycle will be published:
